Technical, installation and deployment information about Flo by Terraclime.

Technology & Accuracy

Flo senses flow-induced vibrations from outside the pipe and uses signal-processing and machine-learning models to estimate water flow. The meter clamps onto the existing pipe, so the pipe does not need to be cut or modified for measurement.

Flo has demonstrated ±4% accuracy over a flow range of 0.02–0.5 m³/hr on DN25 CPVC under validated test conditions.

Flo is calibrated for the relevant pipe material and diameter before deployment. This calibration is carried out at Terraclime's facility before the meter is installed at the site.

The lowest flow demonstrated on DN25 CPVC is 0.02 m³/hr, equivalent to 20 litres per hour. Detection performance depends on the pipe configuration and its calibration.

Flo supports PVC, uPVC, cPVC and medium-grade GI pipes from ¾" to 2" (DN20–DN50). Sizes above 2" are under development.

Flo can be used with gravity-fed and pressurised water systems, and with cold or hot water, provided the water does not contain suspended solid particles.

Installation & Connectivity

No. Flo clamps onto the outside of the existing pipe, so no pipe cutting or plumbing modification is required and the water supply normally does not need to be shut down.

Installation typically takes less than a minute per meter. A suitable installation location requires a 10–15 cm straight pipe section and at least 1" of wall clearance.

Flo uses wired power. For residential deployments, one 5A power outlet is required per block.

Each meter consumes approximately 2.64 Wh per day, or about 1 kWh per year — roughly ₹10 per year at a ₹10/kWh electricity tariff.

No. Residential deployments do not depend on residents' personal Wi-Fi networks.

Flo meters communicate wirelessly with a Terraclime gateway using a dedicated communication protocol. The gateway then connects to the cloud over GSM. Commercial and industrial deployments can also be configured for on-premise systems depending on site requirements.

Yes. Flo is designed for outdoor deployment, and its enclosure has been tested against IP67 conditions. Formal IP67 certification is currently pending.

Installation suitability is assessed based on the conditions at the site.

Dashboard & Water Management

For residential deployments, each resident receives access to their individual Flo dashboard, while authorised community managers can access the information needed to manage the deployment.

Normal readings are updated once every 24 hours with hourly water-use data. Leak alerts are generated in real time when sustained flow patterns meet the configured leak-detection criteria.

The dashboard also supports usage records, billing, reporting and device-health checks.

Flo identifies potential leaks by monitoring sustained flow patterns over time. Leak-detection thresholds can be configured for the deployment.

Flo provides leak alerts but does not contain a shut-off valve and does not automatically stop the water supply.

Yes. Flo provides measured water-use readings and includes billing functionality in the dashboard, allowing residential communities to calculate bills based on recorded consumption.

The residents' association or community management remains responsible for issuing and collecting payments.

Deployment & Commercial

Flo is configured for the deployment environment, pipe diameter, connectivity and interface requirements.

Apartment deployments typically use ¾" and 1" pipes, while villa, commercial and industrial installations may require larger pipe sizes or different hardware and connectivity configurations.

Flo hardware is purchased by the customer, with Platform & Support charged separately for applicable deployments. Flexible payment terms are available for larger deployments.

Prices listed on our website include applicable GST. Installation and shipping are additional.

For current hardware and Platform & Support pricing, refer to the Configuration & Pricing section on the Our Solution page.
